You’re more qualified than you think.

You’re more qualified than you think.

If you can read with a kid, you can tutor. Here’s all it takes.

01

No teaching experience

Patience and a willingness to listen matter more than a degree.

02

No weekly commitment

Drop in any Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evening. Many tutors pick a regular night, and students love seeing a familiar face.

03

Help at your level

Work with students from Pre-K through college, in the subjects you’re comfortable with.

04

Support on site

Good Neighbor Center staff are there every evening to answer questions and pair you with a student or class.

7:00

Homework help

Sit with a student one-on-one or in a small group and work through what’s due.

8:00

Reading & Math

Read aloud, play a game, or practice skills. Learning doesn’t always look like school.

8:30

Wrap-up

Say goodbye and head home knowing you made someone’s evening.

WHY IT MATTERS.

A steady adult can change a student’s year.

A steady adult can change a student’s year.

Students come to GNC for homework help. They keep coming because someone shows up for them. Research backs it up: volunteer tutoring programs have been shown to improve students’ reading skills.
